A Pokémon TCG set (also called an expansion) is a collection of cards released together as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Each set contains a specific number of cards with unique artwork, card numbers, and set symbols. Sets are released every few months and typically tie into the current Pokémon video game generation.

Sets include different card types: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Holo Rare, Ultra Rare, and Secret Rare cards. Modern sets also feature special variants like Full Art, Rainbow Rare, and Illustration Rare cards that collectors highly prize.

The Pokémon Company releases new TCG sets approximately every 3-4 months. Each era (like Scarlet & Violet or Sword & Shield) contains multiple sets released over 2-3 years. Japanese sets release first, followed by English versions typically 2-3 months later.

Main Sets: Large expansions with 150-200+ cards, released quarterly.

Special Sets: Smaller releases like holiday sets, trainer galleries, or promotional collections released between main sets.

Some Pokémon TCG sets command premium prices due to chase cards, limited print runs, or nostalgic appeal. Modern sets like Evolving Skies and Crown Zenith feature highly sought-after Eeveelution and Legendary Pokémon cards.
